Remembering the Puentes Brothers…
Our own Ricardo Ordonez worked on the creative production of the event programs and other promotional materials anticipating the arrival of a Cuban group at that Latin Caribbean Festival held by VIRCS (Victoria Immigration & Refugee Centre Society). This group was composed of talented musicians who made a great splash during the event and others to come.
Within that group, there were two musicians who stood out, twins, Alexis and Adonis Puentes. Soon after there numerous performances, Ricardo approached them and advised them to consider pursuing the idea of producing their own CD. Ricardo sat with Alexis, discussed a series of ideas including CD cover, CD jacket, Photo Productions and more. In 2000, their first CD was released, “Morumba Cubana”. Later, Alexis and Adonis decided to develop their independent images, Alexis has been nominated for Juno Awards and more… Adonis has been back and forth between Victoria and L.A…. with his own music carrier as well.
Within some time, this idea began to take shape, Ricardo went as far as designing a prototype CD cover and Jacket, as well as looked after all the photography production done for marketing the new CD, under Alma Records label. Ricardo, under his photography company PHOTOSURE, holds a magnificent collection of stock photographs from the starting days of the Cubans and Puentes Brothers in Victoria. These stock photo files includes concerts, events, and behind the scene photos.
